Ito Orange Beach is located in Ito City, Shizuoka Prefecture, and is a representative beach of East Izu.
It is very well located and can be accessed on foot from the station. It was named “Orange Beach” because Ito City was originally known for its tangerine production.
Let’s take a look at the highlights of Ito Orange Beach!
What makes Ito Orange Beach attractive?
As I mentioned earlier, the beach is only 5 minutes away from the nearest station, making it an attractive place to visit. It is quite superior to many beaches located far from the station, which require a bus ride to get there.
There is a breakwater offshore, so the waves are calm. The beach is perfect for swimming.
There is a boardwalk along the shore of Ito Orange Beach. Palm trees are planted along the beach, making you feel as if you are in a tropical country.
For me, it reminds of Bali, where I lived for a few years. (I also remember that the locals warned me not to sit on the palm trees because the coconuts would fall down).
This is a view in the morning. When you come all the way to Izu, you might want to stay at least one night. Take an early morning walk along the coast to refresh yourself and start a pleasant day.
Restaurants and Resting Places
Restrooms are available at Ito Orange Beach.
There are a number of restaurants both along the beach and near the station, but this time we visited Dorome. Dorome, by the way, means “shirasu” in the Kochi dialect. I ordered a local beer to go with the Dorome.
It was a dark ale beer that looked thick, but it was surprisingly refreshing and tasty.
Location
From Tokyo Station, take the Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train (approx. 40 minutes) or the Ueno Tokyo Line to Atami Station (approx. 90 minutes), then transfer to the Ito Line for about 20 minutes, and the nearest station is Ito Station.
The distance from Ito Station to the beach is about 450 meters, so it takes about 5 minutes to reach the beach on foot.
