Moriya Beach|A best snorkeling spot in Chiba

Moriya Beach is located in Katsuura City, Chiba Prefecture, and has the highest transparency in the Kanto region.

It is one of the most popular beaches in Chiba Prefecture, and in the summer it is crowded with visitors from outside the prefecture.

Let’s take a look at the highlights of Moriya Beach!

What makes Moriya Beach attractive?

Beach parasols, floats, and beer… anything else do we need?

How about spending a relaxing holiday looking up at the blue sky while swaying on a float?

Wata Island (Watashiima) and Shrine gate (torii) are located in the center of the bay.If you have a snorkel, you can get there in a few minutes, and some days you can walk across at low tide.

The area is rocky, so don’t forget gloves and shoes. It is a great spot for diving, and you can see colorful small fish among the rocks and seaweed.

On the west side of the beach is a fishing port, and I saw some fishermen there.

I am still stuck in the stereotype that the ocean is a place to dive, but I suddenly wished I could enjoy a leisurely day of fishing.

With the waves so calm, it would be fun to go standup paddle board.

Restaurants and Resting Places

There are several restaurants in the vicinity of Kazusa Okitsu Station, but this time we visited “Matsubaya Restaurant”.

There is a noodle dish called “Katsuura Tantanmen” in this area, and I was attracted by the name and ordered it. The soup was so nice and the minced pork on the top went great with the beer.

Moriya Beach is equipped with restrooms.

Nearby Sightseeing Spots

Katsuura, where Moriya Beach is located, has various beaches such as Okitsu Beach and Uhara Beach, so it is fun to visit them. Okitsu Beach is located a short walk from Kazusa Okitsu Station.

How about getting intoxicated by the beautiful, crystal-clear waters?

Access

From Tokyo Station, take the Wakashio limited express train for about 80 minutes, and transfer to the Sotobo Line at the final stop, “Katsuura Station,” to reach “Kazusa Okitsu Station,” 2 stops away.

It is about 1 km from the station and takes about 10 minutes on foot. It is a bit far, but hang in there. If you take a local train, take the train bound for Chiba or Kazusa Ichinomiya.

If you take the train to Chiba, you will have to change trains twice, and if you take the train to Kazusa Ichinomiya, you will have to change trains only once.
