Doami Beach|The Best snorkeling spot in Kanagawa

The Doami Beach is a secluded beach on the Miura Peninsula in Kanagawa Prefecture, where you can enjoy beautiful, crystal-clear waters and marine activities.

The scenery is so beautiful that you may wonder if you are really near Tokyo and it is very accessible. Let’s take a look at the highlights of the Doami Beach!

What makes Doami Beach attractive

A slice of the sun glistening on the surface of the water. People enjoying stand up paddle in the distance. Both sides of the beach are surrounded by rocks.

I have been looking for a beach where I could free dive near Tokyo, but it is not easy to find. I finally found one in Kanagawa Prefecture with nice clear water and deep enough depth.

The dive site has a drop-off right after the entry from the rocky point, so you can easily get a depth of about 20 meters.

It is difficult to get even 5m depth on a shallow beach, so I think it is almost a miracle that we can dive with this level of transparency so close to Tokyo.

Don’t worry even if you are not a free diver. Just looking at the shoreline from the beach is relaxing, and with beach entry, you can enjoy snorkeling as the water gradually gets deeper.

If you arrive early in the morning, you will have the beach all to yourself.

Restaurants and Resting Places

There are several restaurants in the area, but if you have time, why not extend your visit to Misaki Port?

You will need to take a bus, but it is worth the trip as you can enjoy fresh seafood including fresh Misaki tuna.

There are no restrooms on the beach, but they are located near the bus stop.

Nearby Sightseeing Spots

There are several other beaches within walking distance from Aburatsubo, so it is fun to visit them all.

The area around Misaki Port is also recommended. If you take an underwater boat, you can see fish in the sea without getting wet.

Why not visit and enjoy the Miura Peninsula, which are not well known to many people?

Access

From Shinagawa Station, take the Keikyu Main Line to Misakiguchi Station (about 80 minutes). From Misakiguchi Station, it is approximately 5 km to Doami Beach, a 13-minute bus ride.

The nearest bus stop is “Aburatsubo Onsen,” the last stop on the bus bound for Aburatsubo Onsen from the station.

It is a little difficult to find from the bus stop, but you can enter from a point at the right end of Aburatsubo Marine Park and run down a steep slope to reach the beach.
